Barbara Cantey Hunter

Barbara Cantey Hunter, 68, of Awendaw, SC unexpectedly passed in her home on Monday, December 14, 2015 in Summerville, SC. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 in the St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road at 11:00 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.

Born September 1, 1947 she was the daughter of Arthur E. and Sadie Morris Cantey. She was a member of Ft. Sullivan Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Goose Creek Tea Ladies, Low Country Muscle Car Club and was a parishioner of St. Theresa's Catholic Church. She loved people, cars, caring for her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Carlton B. Hunter; children, Jeffrey D. (Susie) Hunter and Jill (Scott) Hunter-Powell; grandchildren: Mary Ann Anderson, Brandy Porter, Melody Hunter and Hunter Powell; great-grandchildren: Cloey Anderson, Mary Catherine Porter, Isabella and Caleb Fish; brother, Duane Cantey; sisters, Virginia Murrell and Gloria Jennette.
