Barbara Ann Riddle Hesse, 76, of Charleston, SC, wife of Eugene William Hesse, Jr., entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Her Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel. 

Mrs. Hesse was born September 18, 1947, in Charleston, SC. She is youngest daughter of the late Manuel Henry Riddle and Marian Josephine Schaffer Riddle. She graduated from the original James Island High School in 1965, and loved her Rams. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, Chantilly Lace Chapter. She enjoyed doing craftwork and obtaining collectables, especially decorative teapots. Mrs. Hesse was an excellent cook, and was famous for her spaghetti sauce. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael Hesse of Charleston; William E. Hesse (Marlyn) of Lexington, SC; a sister, Frances Jones of Johns Island; grandsons Jose DeCecco (Maya) of San Francisco, CA; Eric Hesse (Lauren) of Swansea, SC; and John Phillip Hesse of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Alaina Hesse of Swansea. Additionally, she had many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Charleston area. 

Memorial donations can be made in Mrs. Hesse’s honor to The Citadel Brigadier Foundation or to the Atlanta CV Drum Corps World Class DCA.
