Barbara Ann Perry Grooms, 68, of Hanahan, SC, widow of George W. Grooms, Jr. died Friday, March 15, 2013. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A funeral service and interment will be in Christ's Sanctified Holy Church and Churchyard held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm in Perry, Georgia, under the direction of Watson-Hunt Funeral Home; visitation will be held Friday from 7:00-9:00 pm.
Barbara was born September 18, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia, daughter of the late William Henry Perry and the late Gilberta Sellers Perry. She worked alongside her husband as owner and operator of their family business, Colony Lighting Appliance Center. A steadfast and loyal member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, she enjoyed crafts and shared her artistic and creative talents through her volunteer work in floral design at her church, where she also taught Sunday School.
Barbara was a loving wife and mother, and a wonderful step-mom and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Mandy G. Smith and her husband Ty of Grayson, GA; her son, Jason Grooms and his wife Summer of Hanahan, SC; her step son, Dusty Grooms of Summerville, SC; her granddaughters, Caroline Smith, Laurel Smith, and Ava Smith all of Grayson, GA; her grandson, Colton Grooms of Hanahan, SC; her sister, Jacqueline Craig and her husband Kenny of Norfolk, VA, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Geraldine Croom.
