Barbara Suhrstedt Thompson Brown, 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Reubin H. "Buster" Brown died Friday, February 15, 2019. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 18, 2019 in the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Barbara was born January 28, 1924 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late F.C.W. Suhrstedt and the late Louise Kuemmerer Suhrstedt. She was a graduate of the College of Charleston and was a well respected fourth grade teacher at Stono Park Elementary School for 23 years. Bobbie, as she was known and loved by many, lived on Edgewater Park for 61 years. She was a devoted and active lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church where she participated in many church organizations. She enjoyed sharing her Charleston heritage and experiences while serving as a Docent at Middleton Place. Bobbie enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing bridge and Scrabble. As everyone knew, she was a proud and avid Clemson Tiger Fan.

Barbara is survived by two sons: Dr. Allan J. "Buddy" Thompson, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Sunset, SC and Lawrence O. Thompson of Charleston, SC; three step-daughters: Carol Brown Martin (Bill) of Charleston, SC, Rebecca Brown Korman of Durham, NC and Linda Brown Stanley (Terry) of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren: Allan J. "Jamey" Thompson III (Puja) and Amy Thompson Hand (Shane); six step-grandchildren: William Martin III (Kim), Christopher McNiel Martin (Jenny), Olivia Korman, Renee Korman, Matthew Bremer Stanley (Rachel), and Henry Jennings Stanley; three great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allan James Thompson, Sr. and step-son, Reubin H. "Bo" Brown III.
