Barbara Sansbury Bowman, 66, of Charlotte, North Carolina, went to her home in Heaven on Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014.
A service in celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Park, North Charleston, South Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born May 28, 1947, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was one of seven children of the late H. A. Sansbury and the late Eunice Marshall Sansbury. Barbara graduated from St. Andrews High School and Palmer College. She loved being a mother, a wife, a grandmother and she also enjoyed reading her bible and being a child of God. She worked at the State Ports Authority in Columbia, SC. She was also a Sunday School teacher and volunteered at the Red Cross in GA.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Henry Bowman and his wife, Sandra Bowman, of Lawrenceville, GA and Matthew Jason Bowman, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Catherine Eunice Bowman of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Kara, Alex, Kaitlin, Diana and Danny; three brothers, Chester E. Sansbury of Columbia, SC, Marshal A. Sansbury of Fort Worth, TX and John P. Sansbury of Columbia, SC; and one sister, Betty S. Rowland of Greer, SC.
