Barbara Ann Starkey Addington, 74, of Goose Creek, SC, widow of Alvin Eugene Addington entered into eternal rest Monday, June 29, 2015. Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Barbara was born July 19, 1940 in Greenville, SC, daughter of the late Raymond Ray Starkey and the late Kirby Lee Waldrop Starkey. She was married for 51 years to her late husband, Alvin Eugene Addington whom she married on May 23, 1959 in Slater, SC. For many years she coached cheerleading in Men-Riv Park. She was team mom to football and baseball teams that the children played for. She enjoyed reading, gardening, painting, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary serving as vice president. She held many jobs including Teamster in Great Lakes, IL when she worked for Mayflower Moving Company, movie theater and child care. She enjoyed helping out at an area soup kitchen.
She was a loving mother of Michael, Sam, Lynne and Larry; grandmother of Kourtney, Ashton, Joshua, Tyler, Robby, Shelby and Kathrine.
