Aurora Lichty passed away on March 6, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Monday, March 9, 215, in the Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street, at 1:00 pm. Burial will be held at Fairview Presbyterian Cemetery in Glenmoore, PA. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.

She was born on May 24, 1917 in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico to Flavio Uribe and Celia Pacheco. She graduated from the Normal School for Teachers in Pachuca, Mexico as an educator. Aurora started her work in Pachuca, Mexico as a teacher. Her programs included teaching young students, but also included special programs for the mothers. In after school programs, she would work with those mothers teaching them hygiene, sewing and food preservation. Her theatrical productions with the children were designed to teach them about other cultures and the world closer to them such as the local marketplace and the silver mines. These productions earned her a reputation that very quickly spread to the national level. She excelled in her field and was chosen to work on a pilot program in community development in the northwestern state of Nayarit, Mexico. It was while working there that she met her husband, Jim Lichty, a volunteer with the same program. Aurora was extremely talented and showed her skills as an organizer, an artist able to master various mediums and as a mother and wife. Her many hobbies included flower arranging, painting, playing bridge with her friends, and bowling. Aurora was also an avid Scrabble player. She traveled the world with her husband living in Spain, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran and Malaysia and various states in the USA as well. In each place she lived, she found a way to satisfy her on going passion for education.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, James Lichty. In addition, she is survived by her two daughters, Zaya Sammataro and Patricia Lichty of Reading, PA and two sons, Leonard Lichty and his spouse, Victoria, of Reading, PA and Raymond Lichty and his spouse, Pamela, of Goshen, IN. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
