Aubrey Lee Jolly 98, of Calico Rock, Arkansas died May 14, 2016. Services will be held at the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 4990 Dorchester Road in North Charleston, SC at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2016 with military honors. The burial will held at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Jessica Jolly Harrelson, Tim Harrelson, Seth Jolly, Justin Jolly, Matthew Harrelson, and Greg Harrelson; honorary pallbearers are Gregory Voigt, Liz Van Dalsem, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 William Pyke Van Dalsem, US Army National Guard. The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2016 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Lee was born Dec. 10, 1917 in Welch, West Virginia to Tolliver Jolly and Mary Stone Jolly. He spent his formative years in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He joined the CCC's which took him to Washington state where he worked in forest fire prevention. During WWII Lee joined the Army along with three of his brothers. He served a 30 month tour of duty with the Army Combat Engineers in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. Upon returning to the States he settled in Charleston, SC working at the Naval Shipyard. Lee then worked as a salesman at Thomas W. Carroll Seafood for 35 years. In 1950 he married the love of his life Wilma Hucks Jolly, a marriage that lasted 52 years. Mr. Jolly never met a stranger and loved to dance.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Hucks Jolly; son, Aubrey Tolliver Jolly; brothers: Buck Jolly, Arlis Jolly, Andrew Spears, RJ Spears, Ernest Spears; sisters, Verla Jolly LaLonde and Pearl Eller. Mr. Jolly is survived by his son, Michael DeWayne Jolly; daughter-in-law, Deborah Voigt Jolly; grandchildren: Jessica Jolly Harrelson, Michael Seth Jolly, Liz Van Dalsem, and Pyke Van Dalsem; and eight great-grandchildren.
