Asoline Smoak Elliott, age 90, died early Sunday morning, February 20, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Calvin J. Elliott.
She was born and raised in Walterboro, SC, by her mother Emma Hiott Smoak and her father, Sylvester Smoak. She was one of nine children. Two sisters: Mattie Jean Jordan and Emma Dill Nettles survive her.
Asoline and her husband raised two children: Roberta Bowie -Harrell of Johns Island and Cynthia Black of Daytona Beach, FL. She was a loving grandmother to three grandchildren: Karen Rae of Mt. Pleasant; Kevin Bowie of James Island and Christi Kotwica of Port Orange, FL. She was also loved by four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Elliott was a long time, active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church; the Joan Overstreet Circle of the United Methodist Women and the Wesley Sunday School Class.
The relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. Elliott are invited to attend her funeral service in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Tuesday, between 5 and 7 pm.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1444 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
