Artie Pinckney Lacey, 97, of Ravenel, South Carolina, widower of Julia Emogene Thames Lacey entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 28, 2021. His funeral service will be held at the graveside, Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Christ St. Paul's Parish Churchyard at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Artie was born August 3, 1923 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Pinckney W. Lacey and Janie Bivens Lacey. Sgt. Lacey served in the China-Burma-India Theater (CBI) in the U.S. Army Air Corps 18th Photo Intelligence Detachment during WWII and served with the Flying Tigers. Following the war, he returned home and spent his career with Westvaco in their Timberlands Division as a Timber Cruiser. Artie was known as being wise but never flaunted it. He was a leader, but let you choose whether or not to follow. Artie was gentle, kind and the perfect southern gentleman.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Jacobs (Adam); two sons: Richard D. Lacey (Joanna) and Gerald "Jerry" P. Lacey (Linda) all of Ravenel, SC; four grandchildren: Meghan White (Brandon), Josh Lacey (Lynnsey), Reiley Jacobs (Caroline) and Claire Lacey; seven great-grandchildren: Rhett, Julia, Ezra, Amelia, Simon, Mary Langston, and Emogene; and many nieces and nephews.
