A. Melvin "Bones" Solomon, 88, a lifelong Charlestonian, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and retired from the furniture industry.
Born on August 11, 1925, Bones was the youngest of seven children of the late Walter Harris Solomon and Anna Dora Fox Solomon. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita Ness Solomon and their three sons, Gary (Kristy) of Nashville, TN; Andy (Amy) of Charleston; and Walter (Terri) of Lexington, KY. He also is survived by grandsons, Jake (Mimi) of Everett Naval Station, WA; Josh of Lexington, KY and Michael of Lexington, KY; and granddaughters, Katie of Nashville, TN and Anna and Addie, both of Charleston, SC.
The family will receive friends at the home, 367 Confederate Circle. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 5 p.m. at Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery (Maryville).
