Artemio Peras Ong Gako

MSCS (SW) Artemio Peras Ong Gako, US Navy Ret., 73, of Ladson, SC husband of Victoria Cabreros Ong Gako died Thursday, February 23, 2012, in a local hospital.

Born June 5, 1938 in Bulacan Hindang Leyte, Philippines he was one of two children of Cesar Ong Gako and Macaria Peras Ong Gako. He was a Senior Chief in the US Navy and formerly a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. Mr. Ong Gako was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Ong Gako is survived by his wife of 41 years, Victoria Ong Gako of Ladson, SC; daughter, Stella and Shawn McCombs of Hanahan, SC; son, Steven Ong Gako of Ladson, SC; two grandchildren, Colin and Ainsley McCombs; and nephew, Eric Yap of the Philippines. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Logan McCombs and a sister, Yolanda Yap.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:30 am. Interment with military honors will be announced. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road Sunday, February 26, 2012 between 4:00 and 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:00 pm.
