Arrie Lorrayne Holt

Arrie Lorrayne Hughes Holt, 80, of North Charleston, SC, widow of former state legislator Don N. Holt, Jr. (SC House of Representatives 1974-1994), died Thursday, May 27, 2010, in a local hospital. Born November 9, 1929, in Greeleyville, SC, she was one of four children of Isaac Benjamin Hughes and Daisy Scott Hughes. She was vice-President of First National Bank of South Carolina 1955-1984. She was President of South Carolina Business and Professional Women (BPW) 1972-1976 and a member of Charleston County Aviation Authority (Charleston International Airport) Board of Directors 1988-1992. Mrs. Holt was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Business. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society , the March of Dimes and Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother of five children: William Delano "Billy" Cooper (deceased); Zora Holt Keile and husband John of Summerville; Drawdy Norton "Donnie" Holt III and wife Jean of Columbus, Georgia; Arrie Lorrayne "Ranie" Holt Cahill and husband Mike of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Michael Isaac Holt of Charleston. She was also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: William "Benji" Cooper of Charleston; Caroline Arrie Broome of Boulder, Colorado; Ryan Cahill and wife Jessica and Riley Cahill of Phoenix, Arizona; and Meg Cahill of Scottsdale, Arizona; one great-grandchild, Danika Cahill of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters: Florence Hughes Carson of Charleston, Runette Hughes Louthian of Columbia, and Faye Hughes Davis of Mount Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Sunday, May 30, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Saturday, May 29, 2010, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, P.O.
