Arnold Bert Rovner, 88, of Daniel Island, South Carolina, husband of Sherry Ann (Lamazor) Rovner entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 14, 2024. His graveside service will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024, in the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Shiva will be observed through Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the home of his son and daughter in law, Eric and Michelle Rovner.
Arnold was born August 23, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late Abraham George Rovner and the late Sara Rebecca (Miller) Rovner. After graduating from Barnstable High School on Cape Cod, MA, he became a proud graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, MA in 1957, and was a loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan long before it became trendy to root for either team. Arnold was an agent with The Mutual Benefit Life Insurance, then opened and owned his own agency, Niche Brokerage on Long Island, NY. He was also an active member and officer of the Lake Grove Lion's Club in NY, where he dedicated countless hours to fundraising in the community for various charities. Arnold loved the theater and was a frequent performer in community theater and later in life founded two community theater companies. He always enjoyed a great meal, especially at the popular NY steakhouse, Peter Luger. He always put his family first and loved family holiday gatherings. He will be remembered for the way he loved, laughed, and told jokes.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sherry Rovner; three sons, Ron Rovner (Stacy), Eric Rovner (Michelle), and Gary Rovner (Suzanne); siblings, Irwin Rovner and Jack Rovner (Kathy); and seven grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Carly, Brooke, Sarah, Natalie and Joshua.
