Armando “Armin” Contreras, 75, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on the evening of October 3, 2025, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born on June 27, 1950, in Bulacan, Philippines, to the late Julian Contreras Sr. and Juana Contreras, Armando lived a rich and full life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and generosity.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Filipina Milan Contreras; two daughters, Mary Joyce Param (Roberto) and Judy Anne Mendoza (Gilberth Nesthy); three beloved grandsons, Ronan Jacob Param, Isaiah Contreras Mendoza, and Izri Quinn Mendoza, all of Goose Creek, SC; and his siblings Eddie Contreras and Lucy Gutierrez, both of the Philippines. He is also survived by many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and godchildren who will miss him dearly.
Armando was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Corazon Afable; brother, Julian Contreras Jr.; and sister, Annie Samonte. He was welcomed home by his loved ones and other cherished family members who had passed before him.
A master diamond setter by trade, Armando’s craftsmanship took him across the world. He lived and worked in the Philippines, Australia, Illinois, California, New York, and New Jersey before settling in Goose Creek for his retirement years. Through his artistry, he created exquisite jewelry pieces that continue to sparkle as cherished keepsakes for his family and friends.
Though a quiet man, Armando’s love for his family spoke volumes. He traveled across the United States and overseas, including to Puerto Rico and Japan, to spend time with loved ones. He found joy in cooking and sharing meals and was known for his kind heart and generosity to all.
Armando’s legacy is one of love, craftsmanship, and deep family connection. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston.
