Senior Chief Antonio Bicos de Guzman Jr., USN Ret. 71, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 8, 2013. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013, in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 6650 Dorchester Road at 10 am. Prayers of final Commendation and Farewell with military honors at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road.
Antonio was born April 29, 1942 in Cabanatuan City, Philippines, son of Antonio de Guzman and Fermina Bicos de Guzman. Antonio graduated from Tidewater College. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam war and retired as a Senior Chief after 27 years. He was currently working as an auditor for the State Department and was a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his son, Antonio "Tony" de Guzman III; sister, Paz Cinense and her husband Zosimo Cinense of North Charleston, SC; brothers: Rick de Guzman and Efren de Guzman both of Manila, Philippines, Chris de Guzman of Guam and Gerry de Guzman of Cabanatuan City; Philippines; step-son, Charles F. Rowland and his wife Sonia of Front Royal, VA; step-daughter, Retta Pasoquen and her husband Ed of Summerville, SC; grandchildren: John Dasoquen, Jeremy Pasoquen, Michael Bailey, Heather Perez, Charlsey Calder, Chandler de Guzman, Antonio de Guzman IV; great-grandchildren: Quadry, Jasmine, Nataleigh, Dillon, Michaela, Mackenzie, McKenzie, Jackson and Adyen; nieces and nephews in the US and the Philippines; his former spouse, Fannie Mae de Guzman. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents , his brother Jose de Guzman and a daughter, Erica Fermina de Guzman.
