Anthony Michael "Tony" Volpe, born July 4, 1925, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as chief for over 28 years. He managed an Air Traffic facility in Bradford, PA, and an FAA Coordinator for four other ATC facilities. He was awarded two outstanding, one quality performance, and once special achievement awards for displaying diligence and perseverance in his work performance.

Upon retirement with the FAA, he joined the Bradford City Police Department as a Special Policeman, and later was commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff for McKean County by the governor of PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his mother and father; five sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy, and son-in-law, Carl Ware of Hollywood, SC; grandson, Joe, great-granddaughters, Abbie and Annie, and great-grandson, Jake, all of Charleston, SC; two nieces; and one nephew.

Tony attended Bridgeport, OH High School; Steubenville, OH University; the United States Armed Forces Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Cameron State College in Lawton, Oklahoma; Advanced Management Training at the FAA district office in Cleveland, OH; and the FAA Regional Headquarters, JFK International Airport, Jamaica, NY.

He was also a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC; a 3rd degree life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4243, St. Clairsville, OH; a World War II and Korean War veteran with the Army Air Corps and US Air Force. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5336, St. Clairsville, OH; Disabled American Veterans 117, Bellaire, OH; and the American Legion Post 227, Bridgeport, OH.

Tony was best known for playing the accordion for many years all over the Ohio Valley, playing in night clubs, private parties, church picnics, the Ohio Valley Mall, nursing homes, and other events. He moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC near his daughter, Cindy, where he continued playing until recently retiring.

His Mass of Christian Burial was held at Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10:30 am. The body will be flown to Ohio to Wilson Funeral Home with committal following at Holly Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 am.
