Annie Laurie Steedly, 107, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Wilbur Heyward Steedly died Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Her funeral service will be held graveside on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Annie was born March 21, 1909 in Bamberg County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Charles Uriah Carroll and the late Quarie Carter Carroll. Her mother died before her first birthday and she was reared by Benjamin Donald and Winifred S. Donald.
She is survived by her daughters: Joyce S. Murphy and Jennene S. Allen; sons in law: W. Dean Murphy, Jr. and Joseph J. Allen; grandchildren: W. D. Murphy, III, Keith H. Murphy, Kerry Murphy, Alissa A. Stribling, and Melanie A. Connellee; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Until its closing, Mrs. Steedly was a member of Hampton Park Baptist Church. She was a member of Northwestern Garden Club and St. Andrews Garden club, now defunct. She was a member of the Civitan Auxiliary.
We would like to thank Dr. Dawson, Dr. Honney, Roper Hospice, Dean, III, Robin, Haleigh and Kerry for their care. Also the Miriam Sunday School Class expressed their care through cards and prayers for many years.
