Annie Rosa Bracey Holland

Annie Rosa Bracey Holland (Anne) 102, a resident of Franke at Seaside, Mt. Pleasant, SC died January 24, 2021. She was 102 years old.

Mrs. Holland was born December 26, 1918 in Augusta, GA. She was the daughter of Clara Hair Bracey and John Villepigue Bracey. She attended public schools in Augusta, GA and graduated with honors from Tubman High School.

She married James Wilbur Holland, Sr. on June 8, 1944. The family moved from Augusta, GA to Savannah, GA in 1948 and then to Charleston, SC in 1964.

During World War II she served in the Civil Service. Mrs. Holland's last employment was, for a number of years, as a secretary in the Department of Pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

She was a devout Episcopalian and was a member of Old St. Andrews Parish Church for 57 years, where she taught Sunday school, worked in the annual tea room and enjoyed her participation in the St. Mary's/St. Agness Guild. She had the distinction of being the first female delegate to the Diocesan Convention. She was devoted to the Lord's Church, her family and service to others. Mrs. Holland was an excellent cook, talented seamstress and avid reader. She enjoyed working in her garden with her roses and hydrangeas.

Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Wilbur Holland, Sr., her brother, John V. Bracey and two sisters, Dorothy B. Morgan and Clare B. Kirkpatrick. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, J. Richard Heinsohn.

Mrs. Holland is survived by her three children: Dr. James W. Holland, Jr. and wife Judy of Savannah, GA, Clara H. Heinsohn, of Charleston, SC and Robert M. Holland and his wife Cindy of Spartanburg, SC. Additionally, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Jimmy Holland, Dr. Bracey Holland and Emily Holland of Savannah, GA, Anne H. Stavrinakis and husband Leon of Charleston, SC, John Holland and wife Reagan and William Holland of Spartanburg, SC and Joseph Holland of Anderson, SC. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that anyone inclined to make a memorial may do so to Old Saint Andrews Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Rd., Charleston, SC 29414 or The Franke Home at Seaside, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

Due to the virus, there will be a private funeral and burial.
