Annie K. Matthews

Annie K. Matthews, 98, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, widow of Willis Thurston Matthews, entered into eternal rest Sunday, September 25, 2022. Her graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Annie was born March 16, 1924 in Itawamba County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Chester Kendrick and Cora Lovern Kendrick.  She was a homemaker.  In 1946, she married the love of her life, Willis.  Annie and Willis spent much of the early years traveling through Europe and experiencing all it had to offer.  They eventually settled in France and after living there for a few years, made their way Goose Creek, SC in 1962 and began enjoying their retirement.  Annie spent some time working for KinderCare and enjoyed helping to take care of the youngsters.  She was a charter member of the Peace Presbyterian Church of Goose Creek.  Annie loved her family and always looked forward to the Sunday Dinners, spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and granddoggies - she always arrived bearing treats for the furry ones!   

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Matthews Richardson (William); grandchildren, Blakely Elizabeth Richardson and Emily Parker Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Cortis, Robert and Walter.
