Anne Hedderman Wall, widow of Robert J. T. Wall, to whom she was married for 58 years, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at home. The relatives and friends of Anne H. Wall are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at 2 PM. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Wednesday between 5 PM and 7 PM where the rosary will be recited at 6 PM.
Mrs. Wall was born November 17, 1920 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of John Joseph Hedderman and Mary Hurley Hedderman. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary College, Hooksett, New Hampshire in 1942 with a B.A. degree in Business and Economics. While in college she was president of her class for four years, vice-president of the student government, an editor of the school paper and active in the drama club. She moved to Charleston with her family in 1957. She was a member of Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and active in Parent-Teachers' Organization of the Cathedral School as vice-president and secretary. She was also a member of the Cathedral Womens' Club. Mrs. Wall was a member of the Board of Managers of the Ladies' Benevolent Society, a member of the Charleston Museum, the Charleston Library Society, the South Carolina Historical Society, the Gibbes Museum of Art, the Preservation Society, an interpreter at the Heyward-Washington House for more than 30 years and a charter member of the Laura Bragg Book Club.
She is survived by five children; Nancy Wall Farrington of Boston, MA, Robert Thorp Wall Jr. M.D. (Susan), Mark Hedderman Wall, Esq. (Kathy), Elizabeth Wall Carter (John) and Susan Thorp Wall all of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Spencer Seabury Wall, Elizabeth Wall Bond and Christina Carter Oreck all of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Thorp Wall and Hayden Cosgrove Wall both of Charleston, SC; five great grandchildren, Alexander William Wall and Julia Cosgrove Wall of Charleston, SC, Harper Ray Oreck, Tess Juanita Oreck and William Valentine Oreck all of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, John J. Hedderman, Jr. of Kennebunk, ME.
