Anne Reid Smith,90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Elmer K. Smith, Sr., entered into eternal rest Friday, November 17, 2017. Her Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Anne was born July 24, 1927 in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of the late William McNeil Reid and Annie Frierson Reid. She and her husband loved to travel. They took their family camping many years and later traveled extensively in their motor home. Anne was an animal lover and will be missed by her feline friend Nala. Anne was always active in the PTA of her children's schools, the garden club, and several civic organizations. She was a Certified Medical Assistant and worked for Medical Associates for over 20 years. She was an active member of Ashley River Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and sang in both the Senior Adult Choir and the Sanctuary Choir.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAnne Smith Sandefur, and Judy Smith Jones (Gart) all of Charleston, SC: grandchildren, Preston Jones (Liz), Meredith Jones, Matthew Smith and Allison Smith (Mark Remi); brother, George D. Reid of Raleigh, NC, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Dr. Elmer K. Smith, Jr., and brother, William M. Reid, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Ashley River Baptist Church Music Ministry, 1101 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, SC 29407.
