Anne Thompson Smith

Anne Thompson Smith, 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Charles Norman Smith died Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The relatives and friends of Anne Smith are invited to attend her Funeral Service Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Boulevard at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road from 5:00 until 7:00 pm and Friday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Anne was born December 28, 1937 in Lancaster, South Carolina, daughter of the late Oscar Lee "O.L." Thompson, Jr.and the late Margaret Rodgers Thompson. She retired from The Citadel as an Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Department. She was also a member of Hibben United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Andy Smith (Kim), of Charleston, SC; three sisters: Irene Barrineau (Charles), of Charleston, SC; Elaine Strong (Mike), of Orangeburg, SC; Joyce Lovejoy (Skip), of Charlotte, NC; one brother, O. L. Thompson, III (Toni), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son-in-law, Dennis Bates (Sarah) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and a brother-in-law, Doug Gressette. There are four grandchildren, Kyle Bates, Amanda Bates, Jeffre Youngblood and John Youngblood. Anne was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Smith Bates and a sister, Mary Gressette.
