Anne McLeod Poulnot

Anne McLeod Poulnot, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina,  entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 21, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 in St. John's Lutheran Church, 5 Clifford Street at 11:00 am.  Interment to immediately follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

 Anne was born July 20, 1931 in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of Claude Eugene McLeod and Nevaida Thing McLeod.  She grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina. She attended Beaufort High School and Agnes Scott College. Anne moved to Charleston and was married for over 59 years to Frederick Sherrill Poulnot who predeceased her in 2011. She is survived by her three children, Frederick Sherrill Poulnot, Jr. (Lynley), Claudia Poulnot de Mayo (Richard), and Peter Mc Leod Poulnot; grandchildren  Peter Mc Leod Poulnot, Jr., Virginia Anne de Mayo Huggins (Evan), Sarah Hope de Mayo (Tipton Evans), Legare Walpole Poulnot, Marjorie Mc Leod de Mayo, Pauline Bridgham Poulnot, Marjorie Poulnot Tyler (Russell), Anne Mc Leod Poulnot; and three great-grandchildren Noah Orlie Huggins, Charlotte Kay Tyler, and Frances Louise Huggins. 

 She is also survived by her brother Claude Eugene McLeod (Brenda) and predeceased by her sister Jesse McLeod Kidder (Jason) and her brother George A. McLeod.  She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed sailing, gardening, and traveling. She was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club, the Charleston Yacht Club, and the Garden Club of Charleston.
