Anne Boroughs Johnson

Anne Boroughs Johnson joined her Heavenly Father, one of her sisters (Jean Hannon Boroughs), her parents (Alva Maurice and Ann Trescot Boroughs), numerous friends, and her true and lifelong love, Raymond G. Johnson, Jr., at the pearly gates on Wednesday, November 8. We can only imagine that she gave them a hard time for not opening the latch fast enough and quickly got busy being the consummate hostess at her own welcome party as she was an expert at making others feel at home.

Anne was a proud Charleston native and a student at Columbia College for two years before she joined her new husband, Ray, in Taiwan where they started their adventure of traveling all over the world with DuPont. She was a beloved mother of three, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Anne was the epitome of southern class and grace. She and Ray were dedicated to their Christian Faith, volunteerism, and mentorship of young people wherever they went. Anne’s passions included a deep love for the beach and beach music, playing golf, the joy of dancing, mastering the art of southern cuisine and hospitality, and entertaining and relishing in the company of good friends. Most importantly, she cherished and spoiled her family.

Anne's legacy of boundless joy, radiant light, delicious recipes, and a hint of unmistakable southern sass will be carried forward by her two daughters, Julie Ferry (David) and Amy Miller (Thomas); her son, Raymond G. Johnson III. (Carol); her two sisters, Wendy Tripp (Jack) and Linda Altman, along with her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends.

In honoring Anne's memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that touched many. The family welcomes friends and loved ones at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home (232 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401) for a visitation at 10am and service at 11am on Thursday, November 30th. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
