Anne Carroll Marshall Ball was born on January 4, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Richard Maynard Marshall and Marianna Carroll Marshall and died on April 15, 2016, in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated from the Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware in 1950 and was married to Dr. Frederic Macnaughton Ball in 1952.
Mrs. Ball is succeeded by her three sons: Frederic Macnaughton Ball, Jr. and his wife, Ellen of New Orleans, Louisiana; Dr. James Austin Ball II and his wife, Cindy of Charleston, South Carolina; and Maynard Marshall Ball and his wife, Barbara of McLean, Virginia; her sister-in-law, Donnilea Smith Marshall of West Barnstable, Massachusetts; and her nine grandchildren: Dorothy Davis Ball and James Moultrie Ball of New Orleans, Louisiana, James Austin Ball III, Eleanor Henley Ball and Emily Simons Ball of Charleston, South Carolina, and Maynard Marshall Ball, Jr., Adele Carroll Ball, Claire Adelaide Ball and David Hanseler Ball of McLean, Virginia.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Frederic Macnaughton Ball, her fourth son, David Carroll Ball and her brother, Richard Maynard Marshall III. Mrs. Ball was a member the French Huguenot Church of Charleston, the Junior League of Charleston, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina, the Women's Council of the Gibbes Museum, and the E. Milby Burton Memorial Trust. She was also a member and former chair of the Confederate Home.There will be a memorial service Saturday, April 23, 2016 in the Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
