Ms. Anna Lorraine Shea Rich, 64, was born in Charleston, SC on July 29, 1950, and entered into eternal life on Tuesday night, December 16, 2014. A private family service will be held. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Shortly after graduation from Bishop England High School, Class of 1968, Lorraine entered what was to become the last class of the Women's Army Corps. She trained in communication and was soon assigned to The Pentagon during the height of the Vietnam War, where she coded and relayed war plans directly from the general officers in charge. After her service commitment, she worked in many federal agencies at various military bases.
Lorraine always kept her hometown roots foremost in her thoughts and adventures, creating and cultivating her love of the Lowcountry through prose, family photos - both old and new. She eventually wrote and published Charleston in Poetry and Photographs. Piccolo Spoleto invited Lorraine to participate in the festival and recite her original works.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Green Risher (Sean) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and her four grandchildren, Jacob, Savannah, Jack, and Jay. She is also survived by her sister, Susan S. Bowers (Joe) and her brother, David L. Shea, her brothers-in-law, John Sirigos of Mt. Pleasant and Billy Dunson of Huntsville, AL, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy S. Sirigos, Margaret S. Dunson, and her brothers, Jim Shea and Donald Shea.
For the wonderful care and kindnesses shown to Lorraine throughout her illness, the family wishes to thank the staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Hospice of Charleston, and Sandpiper Nursing and Rehab.
