Anna Mary Groninger Port, 87, was welcomed into the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father on August 9, 2018 at MUSC surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 in John Wesley United Methodist Church Chapel, 626 Savannah Hwy at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date in Live Oaks Memorial Garden.

Ann was born on January 9, 1931 in Mexico, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Edgar David and Ella Groninger. Ann was a loving wife of 59 years to her high school sweetheart, the former Citadel Baseball Coach, Chal Port. She was a dedicated mother, a member of John Wesley Church for 54 years, a cancer survivor, and a lifelong care giver to others. She loved her family, her chihuahua, her neighbors, and her friends. Ann participated in various sports and remained an avid fan throughout her life. She graduated from Juanita Joint High School in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and worked in the business office of K-Mart for over 20 years.

Ann is survived by her two sons, William A. Port of Charleston and Kenric E. Port of Atlanta; two daughters, Sharon Forrester and husband, Butch, of Charleston and Laurie Rogers and husband, Bobby, of Fort Mill; five grandchildren, Anna Stokes, and her husband, Shaun, of Charleston, Chalmers Rogers of Charlotte, Corey Forrester, and his wife, Emily, of Durham, Madison Port of Charleston, and Ben Rogers, and his wife, Anna Marie, of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, Gerald, Frank, Robert, Carl and John Groninger, and her daughter in law, Nancy C. Port.

Ann leaves behind lifelong neighbors and friends including Kate Gaillard, Georgie Mae Follin, Bill Hudson, Sylvia Higgins, Barbara Knight, and many friends at the St. Andrew's Fitness Center.
