Ann Kirby Witherspoon, 60, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019. There will be a visitation at 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Her graveside service will be held immediately following at Christ Church Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Ann was born on September 17, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of S.M. Witherspoon Jr. and the late Joan Kirby Witherspoon. She graduated from Ashley Hall School in 1976 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Clemson University in 1980. She graduated from MUSC as a licensed physical therapist and practiced for many years in the East Cooper area. Ann was a skilled therapist and her knowledge and ability were well known and appreciated. Ann was a free spirit and a social creature. She was extremely well-spoken. She could sport a motorcycle outfit or an elegant style with aplomb. In recent years Ann pursued her love of music, especially the guitar, and she loved doing it. Her family is very thankful for her circle of friends from school and childhood, her bike-riding friends and the music community who have enriched her life.
She is survived by her father, S.M. Witherspoon Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother, Sam M. Witherspoon III (Teddy) of Cary, NC; nephew, Sam M. Witherspoon IV and niece, Caroline I. Witherspoon. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan K. Witherspoon.
