Ann Wagoner Unger, 56, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and formerly of Zionsville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 12, 2016.
Ann was born April 12, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Floyd E. Wagoner and the late Helen Huff Wagoner. She attended Haworth High School where she was a cheerleader, golfer, social butterfly, and a member of the homecoming court. She was then a student at Ball State University, where she received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and continued to use this study and her gift to counsel the many people in her life. She concluded her vivacious career by being a wonderful educator to the hundreds of children she worked with and who she treated as her own.
She recently moved to Charleston, SC in October where she and her husband Roger S. Unger spent two months living their new adventure with memories that will last far beyond her short time here on earth. She was known for her contagious laugh and beautiful smile. Everyone who knew her knows that her love for children, animals, and life was far greater than most. Her favorite part of the past couple of years was when she came to Indiana University for Alpha Xi Delta Mom's Weekend with Alyssa, and the memories made on those weekends will be kept with Alyssa forever. Over Thanksgiving, Ann had the opportunity to visit her oldest daughter Alexis in her new home, and the family is grateful for all of the pictures and meals shared when they unknowingly spent the last few moments they had together laughing and enjoying life.
Ann had a wonderful relationship with the Lord and is undoubtedly in heaven with her Mother, Father, Daughter, and many other family members and friends.
Ann had an extreme joy for life that few ever understood. No challenge was too great and no problem too big for her to solve. She loved everyone she met, and she loved every living thing in the world, especially her two furry "boys" Arnold and Hokie. She loved golfing, dancing, reading, and sitting by the pool talking to her friends. She especially loved her husband of 24 years. She loved life and every single part of it, and will be remembered for that wonderful legacy.
She is survived by her husband, Roger S. Unger, and two daughters, Alyssa Diane Unger of Zionsville, IN and Alexis Ann Unger of New York, NY, brother Bradley J. Wagoner, sister-in-law Tracy Wagoner, nieces Lindsay Groves and Ashley Trammell, mother-in-law Lois Unger, sister-in-law Lisa Sandman, brother-in-law Michael Sandman, and nephews Marshall and Ryan.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 1:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 104 South Pleasantburg Drive, Suite C-17, Greenville, SC 29607.
