Ann Appleby Macmillan, 87, of Charleston, SC, wife of Ben Wilson Macmillan entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 15, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Chapel one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, Walterboro, SC at 2:00 p.m.
Ann was born December 25, 1927 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Milton Allen Appleby and Hazel Felder Appleby. She attended the public schools in Charleston and graduated from Brenau College, St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing, and Mayo Clinic School of Physical Therapy. She was employed by Roper Hospital and headed its Physical Therapy Department for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Ben W. Macmillan; several cousins, Thomas C. Appleby, M.D., Teri A. Goodwin all of Charleston, SC, and Douglas C. Appleby, Jr., M.D. of Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Allen Appleby and Hazel Felder Appleby and step-mother, Gertrude K. Appleby and cousin Douglas C. Appleby, M.D.
