Ann Ledbetter Green, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Herman Leiding "Buffy" Green entered into eternal rest Monday, March 25, 2013. Her Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Christ Episcopal Churchyard, Mount Pleasant. The family will receive friends in Hanahan Hall one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mrs. Green was born October 20, 1919 in Kingstree, South Carolina, daughter of Reverend Samuel Eugene Ledbetter and Lula Johnson Ledbetter. She was a graduate of Columbia College and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. In her early years, she began her professional life teaching at Sullivan's Island Elementary, Whitesides Academy and later Ashley Hall. This was followed by a career in real estate starting with Betty Hanahan Real Estate Company and retiring 26 years later as President of Ann Green Real Estate. She was an inspiration to those that surrounded her, whose character defined strength, humor and a soul full of life.
Ann is survived by her two daughters: Ann Green Ailstock (Charles), Katharine Green Hastie both of Charleston, SC; son, Herman L. "Buff" Green, Jr. (Ginger) of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Robert Payne, John Payne, Eugenia Payne, Virginia Green, Katharine Chapman and Ann Panagos; two step grandchildren: Charles Ailstock and Robert Ailstock; one great grandson, Houston Payne; two step great grandchildren: Helena and Charlie Ailstock; two sisters, Margaret L. Cothran of Spartanburg, SC and Jean L. Redding of Charleston, SC.
