Mrs. Ann Heinsohn Cowan, 100, of Charleston, South Carolina died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 after a brief illness. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Ann was born November 29, 1915 in Charleston, SC, daughter of Eggert Heinsohn and Nina Hair Heinsohn. She attended Charleston area schools. Ann worked for American Tobacco Company from May 12, 1942 until March 16, 1973 when the factory closed. She then went to work for the Medical University from April 2, 1973 until June 30, 1982 at which time she retired. Ann was a lifelong member of the Charleston Rifle Club Auxiliary and a lifelong Lutheran.
She is survived by her son, John "Jack" F. Cowan, Jr., (Faye) of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Erith Elizabeth Hitchcock of North Myrtle Beach, SC, grandson, John F. Cowan, III., of Charleston, SC, granddaughter, Vicky Cowan Davis (Bob) of Kansas, MO, grandson, Bobby Davis of Kansas, MO, one great-granddaughter, two great-great grandsons, and sister, Duly H. Walker of Woodville, FL. She is preceded in death by her brother, Eggert, Jr., and sister Frances.
