Angela Pollok Smith

Angela Pollok Keyser Smith, age 93, died on April 2, 2024 in Charleston, South Carolina. She is survived by her husband, Colton; three adult children: Kathleen Smith, Andrew (Audrey) Smith and Charles Smith; and four grandchildren: Jae Halverson, Graham Halverson, Eliza Smith and Tanis Halverson. Angela was born on June 24, 1930 in London, England to parents, John and Jessie Keyser. She has two younger siblings, Judith Gallimore and William (Carla) Keyser.

Angela embraced the many extraordinary events in her life (WW2 in England, American School of Ballet in New York and studying under Joseph Pilates, Nurse-Midwife in England and MS, living through the 60’s Civil Rights movement in MS and surviving cancer). She was a resilient role model to many. Angela was a graceful person in every sense of the word, both in her early days as a ballet dancer and her charitable  outreach throughout her life. Since 1984, she has been a member of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross. In retirement, Colton and Angela enjoyed river cruising in Europe, Road Scholar trips in North America, visiting family in Minnesota (during the summer) and living in the Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Community in Charleston, South Carolina.

She instilled her caregiving ways in her daughter Kathleen, her love of gardening in her son Andrew, and her love of the arts in her son Charles. I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me will never die.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, please send any donations to Our Little Roses Foreign Mission Society; https://www.ourlittleroses.org/. Angela went on three medical mission trips to Honduras and became acquainted with this non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to rescuing girls in Honduras from situations of risk, empowering and transforming them in a loving atmosphere of unity, respect, and security into successful women with moral and spiritual values strengthened through the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
