Angela Rowland Basha lived a life of commitment to her Catholic Faith, dedication to her family, and service to others. Most importantly, she brought joy to the lives of everyone with whom she came in contact.

Angela was born to Martine Woods Rowland and Theodore Anthony Rowland in Charleston, South Carolina on September 6, 1936. She was called to heaven by the Holy Spirit, to whom she had a particular devotion, on June 4, 2026. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Still Hopes in Columbia, South Carolina after spending her final days and hours sharing memories and stories with her family and newfound friends.

Growing up in a modest household as the eldest of six children, Angela enjoyed all of the wonders Charleston offered in those days, running the streets of downtown with her five brothers and spending countless hours on Sullivans Island fishing, crabbing, boating, and skiing.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Joseph Norman “Tee” Basha of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. They remained married for 50 years until his passing on June 5, 2008. Tee and his brothers owned and operated Basha’s Garage in Mount Pleasant for almost 40 years and it was an integral part of her life with Tee. They also enjoyed years of bowling at the Charleston Rifle Club, camping at Seewee Campground, and cooking the bountiful seafood they caught themselves.

Angela worked for the Royal Typewriter Company and Harley Office Machines until she retired in 1976, only to return to the workforce at her alma mater, Bishop England High School, where she worked in “the office” for over 20 years. Her mischievous sense of humor and the sound of her laughter are remembered by hundreds of former Bishop England students and staff. During her time at Bishop England she coordinated, as co-editor, the publication of the Gracious Goodness Charleston and Gracious Goodness Christmas cookbooks to support the school endowment. The books remain staples of Charleston cooking to this day.

When not working or volunteering for one of the many service organizations of which she was a member, Angela spent much of her time as a master at the sewing machine. She and her sister-in-law, Julie Ann, spent countless hours creating beautiful children’s clothes and fashioning baptismal gowns out of old wedding dresses and lace fabric. Over the last few years, she found great happiness in teaching her grandchildren and others how to sew.

Angela and Tee lived a joyful life together in Mount Pleasant and experienced good times and challenges with steadfast faith in, and appreciation for, the grace of God. Her sense of joy in the face of life’s ups and downs serves as a constant example for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to Tee, Angela was predeceased by her parents and her brother Theodore Anthony Rowland Jr. She is survived by her brothers Lawrence Taylor Rowland, Michael Daniel Rowland (Barbara), David Francis Rowland (Susan), and Kenneth Mark Rowland as well as her sisters-in-law Julie Ann Rowland and Susan Erin Basha with whom she shared a very special friendship. She is also survived by her children Tamera Basha Daniels (Richard), Joseph Norman Basha Jr., and Cheryl Basha Bolchoz (Robert) of Columbia South Carolina; her grandchildren Christine Daniels Brinson (Joseph), Miranda Daniels Schultz (Gunther), Morgan Bolchoz Rubens (Christopher), John Robert Bolchoz III, Angela Marie Bolchoz, Paul Manning Bolchoz (Katherine); and her great grandchildren Lily, Irelyn and Bryce Brinson, Anthony, Matthew, Martine, and Natalie Rubens, and Woods Schultz.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff and care teams at Still Hopes for the care and support they provided to Angela.

The wake will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL on Thursday from 5PM until 7PM with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30PM.
