Andrew "Woodie" W. Holmes, Jr., 75, husband of Jean Lindquist Holmes of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. The relatives and friends of Woodie Holmes are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Monday, May 17, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends at the chapel following the service.
Mr. Holmes was born November 29, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Andrew Welwood Holmes, Sr. and Grace Kutzner Holmes. He graduated from Northern Illinois University. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Holmes was a member of the Parade Corps of Ft. Myer, VA. Mr. Holmes owned and operated several McDonald's Restaurants in Tennessee. He was a former member of the Jaycees, Lion's Club and attended the Church of the Holy Cross in the I'on subdivision.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Holmes of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Susan Carr of Hilton Head Island, SC; his son, Andy Holmes of Baltimore, MD; and his five grandchildren, Andrew, Trenton, Lindsey, Jack and Allie.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018.
