Amy Cicchetti Midgley, 73, of Johns Island, South Carolina, wife of James W Midgley, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Amy was born August 6, 1949 to the late Janet O'Daniel Cicchetti and Louis E. Cicchetti, and grew up in Nyack, New York, a small town located on the Hudson River. She graduated from Nyack High School in 1966, and from Cornell University in 1970.
Amy went to work as a production editor for the college textbook division of Prentice-Hall Publishing Company in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. She married her husband, Jim, in 1972. When Jim's career took them out of the New York area, Amy got a job in Texas at the Mansfield Animal Clinic, and later as a reporter for the Mansfield News Mirror. In 1983, while living in Texas, Amy formed a partnership with her mother, a published author. Under the pen names Evelyn Claire and Amanda Clark, the prolific writing team went on to co-author eleven romance novels for Harlequin which were published worldwide. Amy moved to Charleston in 1986 and co-authored a training manual for Veterinary receptionists with Dr. Mack T. McClister of the Mansfield Animal Clinic.
During the course of her illness, the care Army received from Arvilla Simmons and Melvin Moultrie was extraordinary.
Amy was an avid quilter, reader, and animal lover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, Pet Helpers, or Charleston Animal Society.
