Alvis Craig Murphy, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Virginia Thayer Murphy died Friday, December 22, 2017. All services will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Craig was born May 17, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Charles Floyd Murphy and Elizabeth Craig Murphy. He worked as a Diplomat with the United States State Department and was an active member of First (Scotts) Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas Craig Murphy (Lisa) of Charleston, SC, and Bradley Thayer Murphy (Shiela) of Vienna, VA; four grandchildren, Allison, Matt, Constance and Chloe.
Memorials may be made to First (Scotts) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
