Alton (Al) Lawrence Teasley, 64, of Atlanta (Brookhaven), GA, died on January 5, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was born in Atlanta, GA on December 16, 1949 to William Hulme Teasley and Juanita Sims Teasley. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Summerall Chapel, The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Al graduated from H. V. Jenkins High School, Savannah, GA in 1967. He attended The Citadel (The Military College of South Carolina) in Charleston, SC and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He was recently inducted into The Order of the Tartan of The Citadel's Leaders in Philanthropy. Al served in the United States Air Force as an F-111 fighter pilot and flight instructor from 1971 until his retirement as a Lt. Col. in 1992. At the time of his death, he was a Senior Captain on the Boeing 717 for AirTran Airways.
Survivors include his mother, Juanita Sims Teasley of Adamstown, MD (formerly of Savannah, GA) and sisters Deborah Teasley Tomme (Walt) of Gainesville, VA and Brenda Teasley Davis (Paul) of Walkersville, MD. Al is also survived by 3 nephews, 2 nieces, 5 great-nephews and 4 great-nieces. He is also survived by his longtime friend and companion, Connie Morris Blue of Fayetteville, NC.
Al was preceded in death by his father, William Hulme Teasley.
