Entered into eternal rest on the morning of May 18, 2012, Alma Walker Willis, of Charleston, SC. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Monday, May 21, 2012 at Charleston Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday at J. HENRY STUHR WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Born June 1, 1931 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Alma was the daughter of the late Artful and Annie Mae Twilley Walker of Tifton, Georgia. Alma was a graduate of Tifton High School in 1948. She was a former safety instructor for American Red Cross, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Charleston #4, and a charter member of Pierpont Baptist Church of Charleston, SC where she served as a leader in W.M.U. She served as a youth leader for 22 years where she encouraged the youth to prepare themselves for mission work where ever God called them, "Go ye into all the world and teach the gospel". Many of these young people are leaders today in our churches. She was an active member of Charleston Baptist Church.
Alma was married to the late Robert "Bob" Willis and is survived by her 3 children and their families: Judy Willis (Jim Cox) of Kauai HI, Robert "Robbie" Willis Jr. of Powder Springs GA, Ronald "Ronnie" Willis (Connie) of Goose Creek SC, Granddaughters Allison Solomon of Glendale CA, and Roseanne Suders of Bonneau SC and 2 great-grandsons Seth McWhorter and Nickoali Suders; Brother Dwight Walker (Judy) of White Springs FL and her adoptive family Todd, Gini, LeAnn and Todd Jr. Marshall of James Island SC.
