Alma Thompson Howard, 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Edward Marion Howard entered into eternal rest Monday, November 1, 2021. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Saturday, November 6, 2021 in Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Alma was born November 18, 1936 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Egbert Pinckney Thompson and Reba Elease Crews Thompson. She was a graduate of Rice Business College, and then resided in Salisbury, North Carolina with her husband from 1966 to 1979. In Salisbury, Alma was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Upon returning to Charleston, South Carolina, Alma attended St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was a talented singer, avid gardener, fiber artist, and nature lover.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Howard Smith (Charles) of Salisbury, NC; two sons, Edward Marion Howard, Jr. (Mary Thodosoff) and Eric Patrick Howard both of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister, Kerean Clark of Jedburg, SC; and three grandchildren, Charlotte Smith Staton (William), Edward Marion Howard III, and Caroline Howard Smith.
