Alice Swope Thompson, 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, and widow to the late Raymond L. Thompson, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, prior to the service. A Private Graveside Burial will be held in the Carolina Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Alice was born June 14, 1944, in Hemingway, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Thomas Edward Howell and Virginia Britton Howell. She moved to Charleston in 1962 and acquired her Real Estate License in 1970. Alice was an active Realtor until the last 60 days of her life. She loved her church and singing in the choir at N. Charleston UMC. Alice was a past president of the Greater Lowcountry Republican Club. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her son, William Koatesworth Swope (Denise), of Charleston, SC; her sister, Carolyn Howell Haselden Stone (Willie Joe), of Johnsonville, SC; her nephew, Michael Davis Haselden, of Winston Salem, NC; her great-nieces, Amanda Sturgeon (Stewart) and Kristen McDaniel (Jonathan), both of Florence, SC.
