Alice B. Segars

Alice Catherine Bonnoitt Segars, 84, wife of the late Edward Harold Segars, Jr. of Isle of Palms, SC passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. The family and friends of Alice Segars are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in St. Andrews Church of Mt. Pleasant at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Lamar Memorial Cemetery in Lamar, SC at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

 Mrs. Segars was born on February 28, 1927 in Florence, South Carolina, daughter of the late Ernest and Milton Dupre Stackley Bonnoitt. She was a graduate of Florence High School in 1944.  She was a registered nurse with a degree from the McLeod Infirmary of Florence, SC in 1947. She married Edward Harold Segars, Jr. of Lamar, SC in 1947and they lived in Lamar and had four daughters. She was a nurse at Lamar Hospital and in 1971 they moved to Greenville where she became a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church.  After the death of Mr. Segars, she moved to the Isle of Palms where she has lived since 1999. 

She is survived by her four daughters, Candy Segars Fletcher of Isle of Palms, SC, Catherine Segars McLeod and her husband, Keith, of Columbia, SC, Carolyn Segars Smith and her husband, Terry, of Isle of Palms, SC and Charlie Segars-Andrews and her husband, Mark of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one brother, Ernest L. Bonnoitt of Mandeville, LA; two sisters, Sue Edens of Smyrna, GA and Dolly Brunson of Florence, SC; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two pups. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Tinsley and Millie Yarborough of Florence.
