Alfred Edward Zalewa

Alfred E. Zalewa, of Charleston, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2023. His funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2025 Bees Ferry Rd, Charleston, SC 29414, at 11:00 AM where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial services will follow with military honors in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 61 years, Patricia W. Zalewa. Alfred was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on November 28, 1937. His family later moved to Michigan, where he grew up until he entered the US Navy upon high school graduation. He served faithfully for 20 years as a Chief Quartermaster. He was a dedicated member of Grace on the Ashley Church, where he taught a men’s Sunday School class until he had a stroke. He is predeceased by his parents, Adam and Julia Zalewa, a sister, Julie, a brother, Eddie, and sister-in-law, Alfie, a brother-in-law, William, and a father-in-law, Walter Samuel, who Alfred dearly loved. He is survived by a brother, Richard (Lucy), two sisters, Nora (Bill), and Helen (Stan), sister-in-law, Betty, and brother-in-law, Charles (Pat), and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given to Grace on the Ashley Church, 2025 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
