It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander James Kokinakis, a remarkable young man whose life was a beacon of joy, love, and unparalleled dedication. Alex left us too soon on January 30, 2024, at his home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy that will forever brighten the hearts of those who knew him.
Alex radiated a warmth and kindness that was crystal clear to everyone who met him. His quick wit and infectious laughter were always present, from his early days where he was known affectionately as "Ali boo" by his adoring family to his emergence as a talented young man.
Alex's entrepreneurial spirit shone bright with the establishment of AJK Detailing five years ago. Under his steady hand, AJK Detailing blossomed into one of the most successful boat and car detailing businesses in Charleston, earning accolades for Alex’s professionalism and exceptional service. This commitment to excellence was mirrored in every aspect of Alex’s life. Despite facing the challenges of dyslexia, he immersed himself in the worlds of philosophy, fitness, literature, languages and finance, all showcasing his drive and insatiable curiosity.
Beyond his achievements, Alex's true talent lay in his innate ability to connect with others. He was an exceptional listener who cared deeply about those around him, and he nurtured this gift to the great benefit of everyone blessed to spend time with him. His profound empathy and generosity will never be forgotten.
Alex is survived by a loving family who cherished him deeply: his parents, Karl and Bettina; his sisters, Karley, Noelle, and Brianna; his brothers, Kristos and Luke; brothers-in-law Adam and Xavier; nieces, Margot and Anais, and his beloved girlfriend, Layla.
A service to celebrate Alex's life will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 in St. Philip's Church in Charleston, SC at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Private burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his name to St. Philips Church, 142 Church St., Charleston, SC 29401.
