Alexander Chisolm Coleman

December 19, 1946 — March 9, 2018

Alexander Chisolm Coleman died peacefully at The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg on Friday, March 9 at the age of 71. Chisolm graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1968 he suffered a debilitating car accident, which never curbed his sense of humor, love of rock and roll, playing casino, and UNC basketball. For the past twenty-two years Chisolm has been a resident of The Woodlands Residence in Orangeburg. Chisolm always enjoyed being with his family and friends. A highlight for Chisolm was his annual birthday party, attended by his family and closest childhood friends. All enjoyed regaling in the stories of their glory years.

He is survived by two brothers - Heyward Coleman (Charlotte) and Jamie Coleman (Cynthia) and two sisters - Elizabeth Klosterman (Andy) and Katie Coleman; stepmother - Anne F. Coleman; eight nieces and nephews -Walker Coleman (Heather), Chisolm Coleman (Mollie), Heyward Coleman Jr., Alex Coleman (Cozy), Margot Martin (Tony), Thomas Coleman, Warren Coleman, Stuart Coleman, and many great nieces and nephews. Chisolm is pre-deceased by his parents James Walker Coleman Jr. and Margot Hamilton Coleman and his brother and sister-in-law James Walker Coleman III and Debby Larkin Coleman.The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of The Woodlands Residence for the loving care they extended to Chisolm.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 11, from 4:00-6:00 at the home of Cynthia and Jamie Coleman, 1575 Fairway Drive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12 at 2:00 PM at St Michael's Church, 71 Broad Street, Charleston followed by burial at Magnolia Cemetery. Following the services, the family will receive friends at the home of Charlotte and Heyward Coleman, 15 Atlantic Street.In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Orangeburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, For the Woodlands Residence, PO Box 1812, Orangeburg, SC 29115 or to Episcopal High School, 1200 Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302.
