It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved leader and founder of Euro Foods Bakery and Cafe, Aleksandr “Sasha” Pavlichenko.

Born in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, Sasha came to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream…and he lived it fully. He was more than a successful owner of Euro Foods store, Sasha became a community leader and built a true gathering place where local neighbors became friends and new immigrants found comfort, support, and belonging.

Sasha’s kindness knew no bounds. From feeding the homeless of West Ashley, to supporting local animal shelters, welcoming newcomers to Charleston, and offering aid to Ukrainian refugees and war veterans, he never turned away from a need. Often, his generosity was given anonymously, guided only by his heart.

Sasha will be remembered for his sharp wit, his zest for life, and the giving spirit that touched everyone he met. His legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and service.

Sasha is survived by his devoted wife, Maka of West Ashley, his son, Maxim of New York City, his step-daughter Gvantsa Macharadze of Georgia and his mother, Liudmyla Pavlichenko of West Ashley .

His memory will remain a light and an inspiration to all who knew him.
