Albert Erwin Pearce, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, died on Sunday, December 27th 2015. Albert is survived by his two children, Jenny Vogler (and husband Steve) and Bert Pearce (and wife Anna). His four grandchildren are Callie Vogler, Pearce Vogler, Michael Pearce, and Jana Pearce. He was predeceased by a brother, Tommy Pearce, of Atlanta, Ga.
He married Carlotta Jenkins of Summerville, SC, on February 16, 1952. They were married for 63 years. Carlotta passed away earlier this year. They resided in Mount Pleasant where they raised their family.
Mr. Pearce was born on July 19, 1924, in Gainesville, Ga., a son of Thomas J. Pearce and Lida P. Pearce. He graduated from Gainesville High School and commenced his college education at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. Interrupted by World War II, Al served as a third mate with the U.S. Merchant Marine until the fall of 1945. Returning to college at Auburn University, he completed his degree in electrical engineering in 1948. After a two-year stint with General Electric he commenced his career with Westvaco in North Charleston, S.C. where he held the positions of Power and Chemical Recovery Superintendent. Al retired from Westvaco in 1986.
The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:30 pm. There will be a private, graveside service for Mr. Pearce's family at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
