Albert Lionel

Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Albert Lionel DeVeaux, Sr., 75, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 15, 2026. His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, 11 a.m. at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.
Albert was born on March 30, 1951, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of the late Mercier Green DeVeaux and Euclaide Appleby DeVeaux. A graduate of Carlisle Military School, Albert went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of patriotism and honor.
Following his military service, Albert worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and later continued his career as an electrician at the College of Charleston. Outside of work, he found happiness in the things he loved most: fishing, music, and motorcycles. He especially enjoyed attending concerts and playing guitar. Whether he was charter fishing or casting a line at the jetties, Albert cherished his time on the water and the peace and enjoyment it brought him.
Above all, Albert treasured the time he shared with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, easy-going nature, and genuine compassion for others. The memories he created, the friendships he nurtured, and the love he shared will remain a lasting part of his legacy. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele D. (David) Allston of Charleston, SC; his son, Albert Lionel (Claire) DeVeaux, Jr., of Isle of Palms, SC; his five grandchildren, Gregory, Andrew, Anna Catherine, Kennedy Anne, and Rawlins; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marla DeVeaux; his brother, Jimmy DeVeaux; and his sister, Mary Hall DeVeaux Carpowich.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
