Alan George Jones, 84, of Ridgeville, South Carolina, widower of Kathleen Joyce Catley Jones entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 9, 2020. All services will be Private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Alan was born January 21, 1936 in Birmingham, England, son of the late William George Jones and Florence Sullivan Jones.
Alan was a beloved husband to Kathleen and beloved father of Paul Jones (Teresa) and he is survived by sister, Valerie. He lived a great life, he moved to the USA in 2008 to live with is son Paul. He was an avid fisherman, and would travel back to the UK in the summer months to go fishing with his friends, at Hawksbury Fishery and Tunnel Barn Farm, and then he would spend the winters here in SC in the warmer weather.
He was a Vehicle Mechanic and while in the Army stationed overseas he worked on Tanks and Armored vehicles, after leaving the army, he drove a large truck for a while then went to work at several car companies, Rover, Ford and lastly Renault Birmingham from where he retired and then spent most of his time fishing after his wife passed away.
Here in the US, he loved taking care of his sons yard, and could be seen for hours trundling around on the mower keeping the grass cut. He was also Facebook crazy, and even until his last days he would check his facebook posts for his many friends here and in the UK and wish everyone happy birthday.
